One of my niece's birthday is in January, and so is my nephew's.
Two years ago, I sent the two a gift for their birthdays, and their sister wondered why I did not send her one (her birthday is in July).....
So from then on....... they all three get their birthday presents in January.
This year I am in the town, where they live....
So instead of buying them a gift, I decided to help them make their gifts.
The girls and I made scarves out of yarn, while little fellow made an initial for his room...
To begin with, we picked out three colors of special yarn......
and began to wrap them around chair backs placed about 3 feet apart.
We each walked around the chairs three times...
After placing the amount of yarn on the chairs that we wanted....
we took the loops off the chairs and layed them flat on the table.
I am sorry for the quality of some of the pictures...
but my nieces took turns taking the pictures.... and I think they did a great job!
I then cut the yarn, where it originally started and made a loop knot.
The girls then cut small strips of their favorite yarn.....
This is the yarn that looks like false eyelashes, just in case you were wondering... :)
and they tied knots along the scarf...
Each scarf had about 8 ties along the length of the scarf...
You can see the 'gatherings' along the scarf.
When I made my scarf, I did not cut the yarn loops....
instead I wrapped yarn around the scarf about 10 times and tied a knot.
So instead of a single strand of yarn, mine has a 'section' of yarn.
You can see it directly above, in the picture, and right in the center.
You then loop the scarves around your neck two or three times.
See, mine does not have the loop knot.
After the 'crafting', we chowed down on pizza!!!
I am now their favorite!!!!
Tough life, but somebody has to do it!!
