A Pet Peeve

This weekend,  our family is getting ready for a celebration.

It is the celebration of our son making the choice

to begin his military career.

We decided to open our home

and allow all that would like, to come and

help us wish him Godspeed.

BUT........

and.....

I KNOW!!!  a gauming mess!!

Because I hate cords and more cords,  I knew something had to be done!

and I hate people coming into my home

and seeing a gaum,  ( my word for a mess).

Years ago my sister gave me a box that I have just sat around for decoration.

Wah lah.....

Of Course,  it didn't decorate my couch,  just put it there for the picture.

I had my husband drill holes in the sides and back......

and then I put a power strip in it... and 'boxed' my excess cords.

This is my school area,  so cords are a necessity.

The other 'corded' gaum  I showed you earlier is in my bedroom

for all my hair fixing stuff.

Which I was using to fix one of my little one's hair for prom...

This is a before picture and I forgot to get an after,

but I just love her pretty smile...

Anyways......  To get rid of the cord mess

I screwed a hook into the bottom of my vanity.

I then hung my extension cord from it.

and now....  no more clutter,  well at least for these cords.

Just in case you are wondering.....

I did push in the drawer and dust the furniture.

I also took my life into my own hands by capturing and destroying

the dust monsters all over my floor.

So I guess I am semi-ready for tomorrow....

but I  don't know that I will ever be ready for the day he leaves...

Love,

Catrina

  2. Love the cord storage idea! I know you are very proud of your son and his decision, and a little worried, I would be as well, so my prayers are with him, for God to help him in everything he may do, and with you and dad for the peace of mind, and the faith you both may need. Love all you guys!

  5. I'm a new follower....and I think a friendship is beginning to form! I'm 52, a pastor's wife and just finished my homeschool "career". I'm beginning to finish up all those projects that I started years ago and never completed. Love the idea on hiding those nasty but needed cords! Great job on the blog.

    1. Thank you Laura, and thank you for your prayers. I am so very proud, but my heart truly is breaking. When he gets done with tech school he will be getting married, so I am also excited for this new life he is getting ready to venture, but so much change for this mama. I will definately be hugging him for you.
