A Pet Peeve

This weekend,  our family is getting ready for a celebration.

It is the celebration of our son making the choice

to begin his military career.

We decided to open our home

and allow all that would like, to come and

help us wish him Godspeed.

BUT........

and.....

I KNOW!!!  a gauming mess!!

Because I hate cords and more cords,  I knew something had to be done!

and I hate people coming into my home

and seeing a gaum,  ( my word for a mess).

Years ago my sister gave me a box that I have just sat around for decoration.

Wah lah.....

Of Course,  it didn't decorate my couch,  just put it there for the picture.

I had my husband drill holes in the sides and back......

and then I put a power strip in it... and 'boxed' my excess cords.

This is my school area,  so cords are a necessity.

The other 'corded' gaum  I showed you earlier is in my bedroom

for all my hair fixing stuff.

Which I was using to fix one of my little one's hair for prom...

This is a before picture and I forgot to get an after,

but I just love her pretty smile...

Anyways......  To get rid of the cord mess

I screwed a hook into the bottom of my vanity.

I then hung my extension cord from it.

and now....  no more clutter,  well at least for these cords.

Just in case you are wondering.....

I did push in the drawer and dust the furniture.

I also took my life into my own hands by capturing and destroying

the dust monsters all over my floor.

So I guess I am semi-ready for tomorrow....

but I  don't know that I will ever be ready for the day he leaves...

Catrina

Why Priscilla's Pen?

I am sure you are wondering

where in the world did the name Priscilla's Pen come from.

I will just start off by saying it was something

I had thought of a long time ago,

but never had the courage to use.

Truly,  it was a 'name' that began for me about 25 years ago.

This is my best friend, Steve,

and we have been married for about 30 years.

I know, you're thinking 'so what does this have to do

with Priscilla's Pen'.

Well, my best friend is also a pastor of a church,

or truly, this man is a shepherd of his flock;

he takes care of his people.

I know........you are still wondering,

so what does this have to do with Priscilla?

Well, in the Bible there is only one mention

 of a Preacher's wife.

Her name was Priscilla, and she was the wife of Aquilla,

who had a church  in their home.

She was the first ever, preacher's wife.

So when looking for the name of:

number 1:  a newsletter (that I never had the courage to do)

and number 2:  this blog (that my sister has given me the courage to do),

Priscilla's Pen came to my mind.

Why?  Because 25 years ago, my husband left the business

world to begin his life as a pastor.

So yep!  that is when

I began to be a pastor's wife,

hence, Priscilla.

So, as Paul Harvey said,  now you know the rest of the story.....

Catrina

Who I am, no wait, who we are

This is so very new to me and I feel as if I am drowning in computer world.

But I love sharing my family with others and because they are such a fun thing to me I am excited to do this.

So please bear with me as I get this blog started!

Please meet.....
My Husband,  Steve
My two boys,  Jeremy and Caleb
My four girls,  Danielle, Cheryse, Kayla and Lauryn
AND
Our puppy, Azariah

Okay, so ......  you have met my dignified family

but I truly want you to know who we are,

so this picture will show you who we REALLY are.

I know!!!!  but I love them all.

Besides my families silliness I would like to share with

you some of the idiosyncrasies of being in a 'preacher's family',

and the in's and out's of our daily lives.

Now this may not sound like fun but it includes homeschooling,  junkin,

or thrifting (as it is now called),  and surviving on a shoe string budget,

and a new area in my life,  being a student at 51.

I have enjoyed reading many blogs over the years

and have always wanted you to meet my family.

Thanks to my sister,  Youaretalkingtoomuch.com, I now can.

Introduce me to your family as well.
I canNOT wait to meet you!

Love,
Catrina
